The Positives

Through this time of quarantine, I have not been very happy.  Each day consists of the same actions that make 24 hours feel like 10.  The question that needs to be answered is, What are the Positives?  I have recently made a list of everything important to me at this moment.  The list consisted of my family, friends and school which are still actively in my life today.  The month and a half that I have been in the house has not impacted any of these three values.  Family comes first and being at home I sometimes feel like I can spend a little too much family time.  Thinking on the topic now you can never spend enough family time,  especially in times like this where someone you love could get ill.  Although I have not seen my friends in person for a while, social media has been a huge platform to stay in contact daily.  I have been spending hours FaceTime them and making sure they are healthy.  The value mostly effected would be school which has changed its whole form this semester.  Although I am sure everyone would love to go back to campus, there are some positives that keep me going everyday.  For one, I am able to sleep in way longer than ever and being at home makes everything easier. I am finally able to sit in bed until class starts which gives me a sense of relaxation.  Knowing that all my most important values have not been impacted, I can focus on ways to prevent boredom.

Below are ways to pass the time that I have found useful:

Watch Disney Plus: (especially every marvel Movie)

Watch Netflix: (I recommend Stranger Things)

Watch Anime: ( For my boy Omar)

These all cost money but they are good ways to pass the time and keep a positive mindset knowing everything happens for a reason.

  1. Jordan, you bring up a great point about how there are some positives to be found throughout this circumstance. Taking joy in the small things, such as watching films and getting extra sleep can go a long way in maintaining and achieving a positive attitude! I am also glad to see another Marvel fan in the class!

Thank you for the great times this semester. You were an absolute joy to work with throughout all of our group projects. I hope I continue to have classes with you in the future. You are a hardworking and creative individual, and I am thankful to have had to privilege of learning from you. Stay safe and healthy! We will get through this!

  2. The balancing family time has been a struggle for me too. Being in quarantine, their presence is at the forefront, so not always putting them first feels unsettling. You making so much time for your friends is really inspiring and I can see how that could be a helpful balance to the family time. Being reminded to appreciate what we have despite what we have lost is important so thank you for the much needed reminder!
