Carrying On: Power Through Perseverance

This period of quarantine has proven difficult for all us in a myriad of ways. When we're faced with an arduous challenge we're often met at first with despairing thoughts;

How will I get through this?

Will things be the same?

It's hard to block out the doubt and the worry, but I've found that the best way to work through times like these is to stay strong for the two most important things in your life.

Yourself:

And the people who care about you:

Your Friends:

The insane people you choose

Your Family:

The insane people you're stuck with

Even your co-workers who made weird memes about you:

The insane people you work alongside for a paycheck

No matter how far away they may seem they're always caring about you, and for better or worse you're always caring about them. Everyone owes it to themselves and each other to persevere through the rough patches because these people are waiting for you and are ready to help you at the drop of a hat. Call them, text them, send them a handwritten letter through the postal service, and never forget that these people have your back.

  1. Colin, this was absolutely beautiful. I love how you stated that the two most important things in life are ourselves and others. That's something I too have come to realize given the current circumstances.

    I must say, this blog really hit home for me. The small things you have done for me, like sending me those memes or a kind message really go such a long way in making me feel better. Thank you for being a friend. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be with you this semester. Although things are hard now, I know that in the future we have so many good times to be had. I'm looking forward to spending them with you. :)

  3. I love how the structure of this creates an art form of it's own. It was simple, but that simplicity spoke with magnitudes. Maintaining relationships during this time has been a bit of a struggle for me and can be a bit overwhelming. I am curious to know how do you prioritize time for the people you feel are important to keep in touch with?
